Post-birth Care

ABOUT YOUR VISIT

Our post-birth care services are meticulously designed to ensure a smooth transition for both mother and baby during the critical first weeks after birth.

We offer an early discharge option from the hospital, allowing families to return home between 4 to 6 hours post-birth if they prefer.

During the hospital stay, we provide postnatal visits to monitor the health and progress of both mother and baby. Once home, our care continues with home visits for the first six weeks to check on the development and well-being of the mother and newborn.

These visits are crucial for early detection of any potential issues and to ensure the health of both.

For those who choose, post-birth care can also be provided at the UniSA Midwifery Clinic (additional information available via a link in Resources).

We support all baby feeding choices, offering breastfeeding assistance and resources to help parents make informed decisions.

Our comprehensive care includes routine checks and tests for both mother and baby, with diligent follow-up on all results. We also provide essential parenting education, advice, and support to help new parents feel confident and secure in their new roles.

If necessary, we can prescribe medications and promote overall health during this adjustment period. Upon completion of our service, we ensure a seamless transition by referring families to appropriate health care facilities and practitioners. This holistic approach to post-birth care is designed to support and empower new families during this joyful yet challenging time.
