ABOUT YOUR VISIT
Our birthing services at Lyell McEwin Hospital are designed to cater to the diverse needs and preferences of expectant mothers. We provide comprehensive labour and birth care, accommodating both low-risk and high-risk pregnancies.
Our Low-risk Birth Centre is ideal for women who are experiencing uncomplicated pregnancies. It features large rooms equipped with double beds to accommodate partners, as well as spacious showers and baths to support water use during labour and birth.
For those interested in alternative birthing methods, we are a waterbirth-accredited facility and have certified Hypnobirthing supporters on staff to guide you through the process. For pregnancies with potential risks or for those who wish to have an epidural, our High-risk Delivery Suite is equipped to provide the necessary care.
We understand the importance of personalized birthing experiences. Therefore, all requests for specific care during labour and birth are open for discussion and negotiation. To familiarise future parents with our facilities, tours of the LMH Maternity Services can be arranged upon request.
Additionally, we offer the option of early discharge from the hospital, typically between 4 to 6 hours after birth, allowing families to return to the comfort of their home sooner.

Low-risk Birth Centre care - Low risk women can use the Birth Centre, which offers large rooms with double beds to accommodate partners and large showers and baths for the use of water throughout labour and/or birth.

High-risk Delivery Suite care - The Delivery Suite is usually reserved for women with potential pregnancy or birth risk factors, or those wanting an epidural for labour

Please note: due to the terms of my contract for visiting rights at LMH, I cannot offer home birth as part of my service
